Hanging hearts

Hello everyone, hope all is well. It has been a hectic couple of weeks for me. My son had an operation to have a tumour removed from his head last week. Fortunately, it was a benign tumour so it was a fairly straightforward procedure to remove it. He will need another operation in a few months time though to remove the last little bits of it. They did not want to remove it all in one go as it would have resulted in a bigger scar. By doing it in two stages it will minimise scarring. He was so very brave as he is only 12 and was very anxious about having a general anaesthetic. He is back at school now sporting some brightly coloured stitches to show off his war wound and most of all, he is enjoying the excuse not having to participate in PE!

Well at the weekend I made another heart wall hanger. This time, using mostly Tattered Lace dies.

Using a lacy heart die I had, I cut out several pieces of card and layered them on top of each other. I did this four times for each heart to create a chipboard effect. Using my designers directory from Tattered Lace, I then printed off my chosen patterned paper, die cut three hearts out and stuck them to the top of my three plain hearts.

For the top heart, I used Tattered Lace 'dragonfly flowers' and 'spiral rose' dies to decorate it. I used blue distress inks to distress the edges of the dragonfly and used my sparkle pens on the roses. I finished off the first heart by adding some pearls to it.

With the second heart, I cut out the word 'Love' using a Tattered Lace 'delicate love sentiment'. I also used a Tattered Lace 'bird song die' which I cut into and paper pieced. Using a couple of tiny butterfly dies I then added them to the heart with some tiny pearls. I finished off this heart by adding some glossy accents to the 'Love' sentiment.

For the last heart, I decorated it using Tattered Lace 'all you need is love', 'daisy starlight flourish' and 'pearl flourish no.7' dies. I then highlighted certain areas with my sparkle pens.

To finish off, I attached all three hearts together with some blue ribbon and fixed a loop at the top and tied a bow for the bottom.

Hope you all have a good weekend, bye for now.
